SHORELINES & STREAMBANKS

Chautauqua County Conservation District works closely with farmers, landowners, municipalities, NYS-DEC and the US Fish and Wildlife Service to evaluate and address shoreline and stream bank erosion problems. Chautauqua County Soil & Water Conservation District provides technical assistance, construction oversight and, in some cases, funding towards projects (whenever it is available if the project meets specific requirements). Possible funding sources include New York State, Federal and private entities such as Trout Unlimited and the Fish America Foundation.

If you are faced with a situation that may require technical assistance that relates to shoreline or streambank erosion or are starting a project that might compromise the integrity of a shoreline or streambank; please reach out to our office by phone at 716-664-2351 Ext. 5 or by email at Chaut-Co@SoilWater.org to obtain professional advice.
