DISTRICT PROGRAMS
Chautauqua County Soil & Water Conservation District is focused on the conservation of soil, water and natural resources within Chautauqua County. The District upholds this responsibility by synchronizing the efforts of a number of cooperating agencies, concerned businesses, landowners and units of Government in order to implement best management practices that support and promote environmental responsibility.
Through an agreement with the USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Chautauqua County Soil & Water Conservation District provides technical assistance and financial assistance whenever it may be available to cooperating landowners and other applicants. The unique partnership between NRCS and Chautauqua County Soil & Water Conservation District supports each member agency and cooperates with state and federal programs which sometimes provide cost sharing opportunities, technical assistance, public education, information, and products to promote priority conservation.
TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE
District services are available by request to the general public, landowners, learning centers and schools, public and private organizations, municipalities, highway departments and all units of Government.
Chautauqua County Soil & Water Conservation District assists with erosion and sediment control; livestock and non-point source pollution programming; soil and water resource management; hydro-seeding; and urban and rural drainage solutions. Chautauqua County Soil & Water Conservation also processes Soil Group Worksheets/Maps for a fee.
